Breath & Bodywork

Chi Nei Tsang, Taoist abdominal bodywork, offered in person in Boulder, Colorado.

Life began in the belly. Before you ever took your first breath, you were nourished through your navel, and that soft center was the first place you knew as home. It's also where most of us hold the most tension.

Every time you braced for something, swallowed a feeling, or held your breath and pushed through; your body remembered. And so much of it settled right here, in old emotions, old stories, and the quiet, constant effort of trying to keep everything under control.

Chi Nei Tsang is an ancient Taoist practice whose name means working the energy of the internal organs. Through slow, attuned touch, we gently soften what's been held around your organs, your diaphragm, and your gut, giving your body permission to let go of what it no longer needs to carry.

In Taoist medicine, each organ holds its own emotion, with worry in the stomach, grief in the lungs, anger in the liver, and fear in the kidneys. When those feelings have nowhere to move, the body holds onto them, and this work gives them somewhere to go.

Because your gut is in constant conversation with your brain through the vagus nerve, as your belly begins to soften, your whole nervous system receives the message it's been waiting for: it's safe to rest now.

Why Breath and Touch Belong Together

Breath opens. Touch helps it land.

Breathing first moves what's ready to move. It clears. Then the hands-on work invites your body to do the harder thing for most of us. To soften. To receive. To stop holding.

And then you notice the space. Your belly expands. Your breath drops lower than it has in a long time. You feel how much room there is inside your own body.

Yang to open. Yin to receive. The full circle.

What it can support

  • Bloating, sluggish digestion, and a belly that never feels settled

  • A tight, braced belly you can't seem to relax

  • Shallow breathing and a held diaphragm

  • Anxiety, chronic stress, and a nervous system stuck "on"

  • Emotions with nowhere to go, like grief, worry, or fear

  • Menstrual discomfort and pelvic tension

  • Feeling disconnected from your body below the neck

Chi Nei Tsang Reset · 60 minutes · $125

For when you don't want to DO anything. You just want to receive.

We begin with a short check-in and grounding breath. Then slow, hands-on work across the belly, diaphragm, and organs. We close in stillness so your system can integrate.

Breath + Bodywork Reset · 90 minutes · $150

This is my signature session, the one where everything I do comes together.

We begin with Conscious Connected Breathwork, letting the breath move through whatever is ready to release, and then we close with Chi Nei Tsang, where slow, attuned touch helps your body soften into the space that's just been opened.

The breath clears the way and the bodywork helps you receive it, so you leave feeling not only lighter, but aware of how much room there really is inside you.

Before your session

Please wear comfortable clothing and avoid eating a large meal in the two hours beforehand. We work directly on the belly, the rest of you will stay covered and comfortable the whole way through.

Chi Nei Tsang isn't recommended during pregnancy, after recent abdominal surgery, or with certain medical conditions, so please share anything relevant on your intake form and we'll find the approach that's right for you. This work is meant to support your medical care, never to replace it.
